Overview
theRuler ("we", "us") provides a project management platform. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
We designed theRuler to be private by default. We don't sell your data, ever.
Data we collect
Account data: name, email, password hash, profile photo.
Workspace data: projects, tickets, comments, attachments, and metadata you create inside the product.
Usage data: aggregated, de-identified events used to improve the product (e.g. which features are used).
Device data: browser type, OS, IP address, used for security and abuse prevention.
How we use your data
Provide, maintain, and improve theRuler.
Authenticate users and prevent fraud.
Send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, security alerts).
With your opt-in consent, send product updates and tips.
Retention
Workspace data is retained while your account is active.
After account deletion, data is purged within 30 days from production systems and within 90 days from backups.
Your rights
Access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time from Settings → Privacy.
EU/UK residents: rights under GDPR including data portability and the right to object.
California residents: rights under CCPA including the right to know and the right to delete.
Security
Data encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256).
Annual third-party penetration tests.
SOC 2 Type II controls (Enterprise).
Changes to this policy
We'll notify you by email at least 14 days before any material change takes effect.
